| From the Chairperson...
Even before reading The Girls from Ames: A Story of Women and a Forty-year Friendship, I was a fan of Jeffrey Zaslow from his work at the Wall Street Journal and especially from his co-authorship of The Last Lecture (with Professor Randy Pausch). I found myself smiling and then crying at several spots in The Girls from Ames. The book brought back many memories from my own high school days (some good - some not so good) and left me feeling a bit envious of the deep, long-lasting friendships these women share. I am excited to hear Jeffrey Zaslow at the Book and Author Luncheon talk about his experiences writing the book. In an article I read about him, he said that writing the book helped him to better understand his daughters and his wife. I hope he speaks about that when we meet him on November 5. For tickets to his program and our many other wonderful Book Festival offerings, call 954-434-0499, ext. 336. To view our incredible lineup of authors visit www.jccbooks.com.
