The David Posnack Jewish Community Center offers special needs programming for children and young adults from the ages of 3 to 21. We offer seasonal camps as well as recreational and social programs on selected Sundays throughout the year.
CAMP GIBORIM
GIBORIM, meaning "Heroes" in Hebrew, is a special needs camp serving over 100 children and young adults from the ages of 3 to 21 with autism, learning disabilities, intellectual, emotional and physical handicaps, developmental and language delays. We offer a traditional camp environment filled with innovative activities and creative surroundings. GIBORIM's staff consists of a director, assistant director, teachers, teacher assistants, senior counselors, junior counselors, C.I.T.'s and volunteers. The staff is dedicated, mature and educated about children with special needs. All staff is required to undergo an FBI background clearance.

FACILITIES
Each of the seven GIBORIM groups has their own room, which is used for many group and individual activities. In addition, the JCC facilities are available to GIBORIM all summer long including: gymnasium, playground, computer lab, softball fields, auditorium and three pools.
SERVICES 
Inclusion
GIBORIM offers a limited number of campers the opportunity to be included with the "general camp population." The goal is to provide an optimal camp experience to practice appropriate behaviors and social skills.
Activities
Camp activities include all that are offered at the JCC. Participation is based on the age and ability of the campers. Activities include arts and crafts, music, sports, swimming, mini-golf, karate and science.
Field Trips
Twice a week children ages 5 and up travel on age-appropriate field trips that are rewarding to the campers. Favorite trips include bowling. movies, museums and boat rides. In addition, the Teen group participates in a day trip to Orlando.

SUNDAY SOCIALS
Recreational, social programs for special needs children, teens and young adults are scheduled throughout the school year on alternating Sunday afternoons from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Club Sameah is for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Yom Rishon is for teens and adults 13 years and over.
Activities offered include: Arts & crafts Music Indoor/outdoor fun Dance Social discussion Cooking
Judaic programs Field trips (transportation provided for all off-campus programs)
