About Cultural Arts

Our Programs

The Diane & Barry Wilen Jewish Book Festival celebrates 31 years of bringing the community an exciting lineup of the year’s most exceptional authors, celebrities, and influencers. Over the years, the Book Festival has played host to some of the most noted authors, journalists, scholars, politicians and personalities of our day, including Walter Isaacson, Jon Meacham, Ron Suskind, Dave Barry, Geraldine Brooks, Kristin Hannah, Giada de Laurentiis, Bob Costas, Andy Cohen, Madeleine Albright, Barney Frank, Elie Wiesel, Rabbi Harold Kushner and Chaim Potok — just to name a few! From fact to fiction, politics to religion and history to humor to the Book Festival has something for everyone.

The Ft. Lauderdale Jewish Film Festival has been engaging and entertaining diverse audiences with film through a Jewish lens for over 19 years. The festival explores the Jewish experience — Jewish culture and history, life in Israel, the works of Jewish artists — and challenges conventional perspectives on issues facing all of us. Through the years the festival has showcased award winning films from Israel, England, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Lebanon, Poland, Canada and the United States. Using the power of film to inform, educate, and most of all entertain the festival has garnered a loyal following of film lovers and has now extended its reach by showing films throughout the year.

JJamz is revitalizing the music programming at the David Posnack JCC by bringing top international, national and local indie bands to our venue. JJAMZ is beginning its 3rd season. After great success with shows by David Grisman, Matisyshu & local bands, the programs are creating a strong musical presence by enriching the tri-county’s music community.

Connecting our community to the people, history, culture, and land of Israel is the objective of our Made in Israel programming. From lectures and dance to film, music, and art, these programs are designed to showcase the best Israel offers past, present and future. Programs have included Israeli sing-a-long series, award winning Israeli films, top rated Israeli comedians and performers plus gallery exhibitions highlighting Israel’s landscape and people. This series brings speakers, authors, musicians, artists, and theatre direct from Israel to the David Posnack JCC and has created diverse audiences joining our Israeli and South Florida community.
