Virtual and in-person enrichment classes for those with developmental delays


The David Posnack JCC provides programs for those with developmental disabilities that provide opportunities to learn life skills, be creative, build strength, confidence and coordination, socialize and make friendships.

GibConnect’s mission is to help participants stay connected, either in-person or virtually (through Zoom).

Choose the program that best fits your needs, or choose from both in-person and virtual options.


GibConnect Virtual Fee for the whole session is $160

$4/class for 40 total classes, from Monday, August 23 – Sunday, October 3

Individual Virtual Classes: You can participate in a Virtual Class one at a time for $8/class JCC Members or $10/class for Non-Members.

The Arts
ActAbility with Debbie Lombard & Anna Wallace “All the world is a stage” - This theater class combines the inspiration of, music, acting, and dance. Gain self-confidence and social skills while you get into the groove and discover that you have the ability to act in all of life’s situations. After completion of the class, the participants will perform in an end-of-the-year showcase. Monday class IP, Tuesday class V

Artsy Craftsy with Tara Evans Students work on creative projects using paints, chalk, pastels, glue, and a variety of materials. Skills include coordination and fine motor skills, encouraging self-expression, choice-making, and following directions. Completed works will be displayed in an art show at our end-of-the-year party “Gib Has Talent”. Wednesday class V, Thursday class IP

Hip Hop Dance Class with Hip Hop Kidz This fun dance class includes hip hop moves, all the follow-a-longs from your favorite music videos, plus line dances like the electric slide and more. The participants improve coordination, agility and body awareness while moving to the music. IPV

Movie Makers with Samantha Sehter Gib participants... are you ready to unleash your creative artist? In Movie Makers, we will work collaboratively to create and produce a movie! Learn all about different movie genres, how to develop a storyline, acting, directing, and how to lean on your imagination to boost self-confidence and develop a positive self-image. V

STEP with Kristle Robinson Step into a new world of dance and communication. This dance form is a percussive, highly energetic art form. In stepping, the body becomes an instrument, using footsteps, claps and spoken word to produce complex poly-rhythms. IP

Unique Comedy and Puppet Performers with Marty Lanz This class features creative characterization through the use of puppetry. We'll invent our own puppets through art incorporated lessons. We'll develop scenes using improvisation, jokes and skits creating our own unique scripted puppet show! IP

The Voice in U, A Chorus Ensemble with Miss Joan Music is a way to express and release emotions. The Voice in U will enhance social skills, build self-confidence and self-esteem. Class will conclude with a Voice in U concert. IP


 Basketball with Coach Jason Stura, Andy Perez This is a comprehensive class that enhances basketball skills, teamwork and sportsmanship for all ages. Students learn skills in shooting, passing and dribbling and techniques in offense and defense. IP

Circuit Fitness | Ages 13+ Under the supervision of a trainer, students work on improving cardiovascular fitness and increasing muscle strength through the use of body-weight exercises, weight machines and cardio equipment. IP

Healthy Fit and Fun This group fitness class creates a personalized environment for everyone to pursue their fitness and health goals. This innovative program teaches the lifelong benefits of staying fit and eating healthy and builds self-esteem and stronger bodies. IP

Healthy Strides Healthy Strides participants exercise, monitor hydration and weight while promoting the lifetime benefits of walking. Students receive incentives based upon goal-setting and achievement. IP

Karate America with Master Creed and Ben Polsky We teach empowerment to our students to build the inside to be able to protect the outside. You will learn basic knowledge of self-defense with the understanding that the ultimate goal is to create time and space.  Fun fitness and structure-based classes professional taught and positively reinforced. Thursday class V, Friday class IP

Pretzel Kids with Jill Adler This class for all ages offers the opportunity to stay physically fit and have tons of fun while learning relaxation techniques through imaginative yoga games. Students will laugh, exercise, breathe and reduce stress. Most important is the smiles this class will create. IP

Ready, Set, Go Fitness with Ysaac Kaplan This class will challenge your strength and endurance by using boxing style movements, obstacle courses and fitness. Participants stamina will build through increasing repetitive fitness tasks. This class is made possible by a grant from Autism Speaks. IPV

Swim The benefits of swimming include enhancing gross motor and cognitive skills, increasing muscle strength, endurance and improvement in overall communication skills. Swimming fosters courage, confidence, trust and helps to develop friendships. It’s great for socialization and relaxation. IP

Weights In Motion with Ysaac Kaplan Using today’s music as a motivator, this class focuses on aerobic exercises, conditioning and strength training. Various weights and bands are utilized all while having fun working out to your favorite tunes. IP

Yoga with Cookie Billig This yoga class is a wonderful space for a family member to spend quality bonding time. It gives both a chance to relax, disconnect and refocus through a series of breathing, movement and stretches. Monday class V, Tuesday class IP.



Life Skills

Life skills courses are supported by a grant from the Jewish Federation of Broward County.

In collaboration with Goodman JFS B.O.O.S.T and Best Buddies Jobs.

Best Buddies Transition Class – Ages 14+ with Emily Hernandez This class is designed to prepare participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities to transition into the Best Buddies Jobs Program. They will engage in a series of classroom-based activities that will enhance their self-awareness in order to identify strengths and needs, including effective strategies and/or accommodations so they can advocate for themselves in the workplace or community. This class is made possible by a grant from Best Buddies. IP

BOOST U - Life Skills, The Essentials with Sam Salver (from JFS) This hands-on class focuses on basic skills to help students become more independent in taking care of themselves and their home. Activities include household chores, choosing and caring for clothing, using money, shopping, community awareness and basic job skills. IP

Cooking: Back to Basics with Chef Julia Steiner This class is a fun, hands-on class that teaches the students, basic life skills of cooking. These delicious and nutritious recipes also teach preparation and organizational skills.  Every week the participants will receive short list of ingredients helps them work with their recipes. We will provide the ingredients for a small supply fee. IP

Creative Kitchen with Miss Bubbe This class features fun, inspiring activities and recipes that begin and end in the creative kitchen with Miss Bubbe. Discover that there is more than just food cooking up in the kitchen! Each week a community celebrity will join as guest instructor. V

Food on the Go Cooking with Chef Julia Steiner Set yourself up for success with culinary instruction for food-on-the-go. Learn how to stock your fridge with jars of goodness for easy snacks and meals that will make meal prep more manageable. IP

Lunch Bunch Join us for a special lunch bunch on Sundays with your Giborim friends. Engage in a unique lunch-making activity to build your kitchen confidence while you socialize at the J! Class ends with the bunch enjoying their home-made lunch together. IP

Scouting the Obstacles with Hannah Wagner The goal of this class is to provide each participant with the opportunity to experience scouting. This includes badges, community service projects, and more! The badges include areas such as life skills, the arts, cooking and STEM. Scouts will complete the necessary steps to earn a particular badge. Each child will also be provided with a drawstring bag to add their badges to once they earn it.   
* Note: This program does not fall under Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. IP

Student Finance League with Amy Salamon The beginning phases of budgeting are taught by helping students gain an understanding of their personal expenses. They will learn vocabulary that helps them safeguard their money and build an awareness of possible scams and frauds. The program is designed to grow confidence and help students understand how to earn, manage and protect money. IP

Sunday Social @ Bob Roth’s New River Groves Sunday, September 19, 1-3pm, $10 per person; or $20 with transportation. Our first Sunday Social of the new year will be at Bob Roth’s New River Groves, 5660 Griffin Rd, Davie. Program includes a tour of the garden and butterfly gardens, learning about planting your own garden, weeding, worm compost, and how banana peels can be recycled.
