Ben & Dorothy Spencer Special Needs Programs
The David Posnack Jewish Community Center offers special needs programming for children and young adults from the ages of 3-21. We also offer seasonal camps, as well as recreational and social programs on select Sundays throughout the year.
GIBORIM, meaning "Heroes" in Hebrew, is a special needs camp serving over 100 children and young adults
from the ages of 3 to 21 with autism, learning disabilities, intellectual, emotional and physical handicaps,
developmental and language delays. We offer a traditional camp environment filled with innovative
activities and creative surroundings. GIBORIM's staff consists of a director, assistant director,
teacher assistants, senior counselors, junior counselors, C.I.T.'s and volunteers.

Each of the seven GIBORIM groups has their own room, which is used for many group and individual activities.
In addition, the JCC facilities are available to GIBORIM all summer long including:
Two Gymnasiums • Playground • Computer Lab • Softball Fields • Auditorium • 3 Pools
Giborim offers a limited number of campers the opportunity to be included with the general camp population.
The goal is to provide an optimal camp experience to practice appropriate behaviors and social skills.
Camp activities include all that are offered at the JCC. Participation is based on the age and ability of the
campers. Activities include arts & crafts, music, sports, swimming, mini-golf, karate and science.
Twice a week children ages 5 and up travel on age-appropriate field trips that are rewarding to the campers.
Favorite trips include bowling, movies, museums and boat rides. In addition, the teen group participates
in a day trip to Orlando.
