As a non-profit organization, we rely on community support to provide the wide variety of quality programs and events you've come to expect. Shirley and Sid Sherman Fund
-The fund was established in memory of Shirley and Sid Sherman. Shirley and Sid were extremely active in the JCC, serving and chairing many committees, galas the Shirley Sherman gymnastics team. The funds raised are to provide scholarships for preschool and camp
Hal Rosenberg Memorial Fund
-Hal was a past board member of the JCC and the coach of the first ever baseball team to represent the Posnack JCC at the Maccabi Games in 2009. The fund set up in memory of Hal (who passed away in 2011) provides athletes with scholarship dollars to subsidize the cost to attend the Maccabi Games. Hal believed that youth sports builds good values and strong character.
Lori Green Maccabi Fund
-The JCC Maccabi Games® are an Olympic-style sporting competition held each summer in North America and is the second largest organized sports program for Jewish teenagers in the world ages 13-16. The Games feature home hospitality, includes opening and closing events, workshops, performances, exhibits, community service, and social activities, while it strengthens bonds to Jewish heritage, community and Israel. This fund was created to help defray the costs for those teens, who otherwise would not have the opportunity, wishing to take part and display financial need.
Hunter Norman Basketball Scholarship
-Our family lost Hunter on November 17, 2018. He was only 25 years old. Hunter played all sports since the age of 5. He played on the Cooper City Middle and High School Basketball and Volleyball teams as well as the JCC Basketball Leagues and participanted in teh JCC Maccabi Games. In recognition of Hunter's life and his passion for team sports, our family has established the Hunter Norman Basketball Scholarship Fund
The DPJCC is recognized nationally for excellence in serving individuals with developmental disabilities by offering various programs benefitting the special needs community. The Posnack Foundation Camp Giborim has provided an outstanding recreational summer program for children, teens, and adults for the past 31 years. In 2017, the award-winning Giborim U enrichment program was launched to offer courses in fitness, the arts, sports, recreation, life skills and health and wellness. Next, The GIB Shop was created in 2019 as a mobile gift shop with extraordinary goods sold by extraordinary people. In 2021, Giborim U changed its name to GibConnect and began offering both in-person and virtual programming. The vision of the DPJCC continued with the opening of the new premier Giborim Adult Program (G.A.P.) in the fall of 2021 for individuals ages 20+ with developmental disabilities.
Evan Reed Dermer Scholarship Fund
-The Posnack Foundation Camp Giborim meaning “Heroes,” serves children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities. Scott Dermer has been the Camp Director for the past 30 years. Scott and his wife, Heidi, welcomed their identical twin sons Shawn and Evan over two months prematurely on March 30, 1999. Tragically, on January 4, 2000, Evan passed away due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Shortly after his death, the David Posnack Jewish Community Center created the “Evan Reed Dermer Scholarship Fund” in honor of his memory. The monies raised by the fund are used to provide assistance to families in order to offset the financial cost of attending various Giborim programs at the DPJCC.

G.A.P.(Giborim Adult Program)

-This fund provides relief for those in need who have experienced an unexpected tragedy, such as a tropical storm, natural disaster or unexpected death in the family.
-The Arts, Culture, and Education Department plans a multitude of events and programs throughout the year that are educational, cultural, entertaining, stimulating, and just plain fun. Classes include coffee talks, mah jongg and canasta, bereavement groups and Yiddush. -For 39 Summers, the trained, professional staff at the award-winning Camp Kadima at the David Posnack Jewish Community Center has provided a supervised and safe environment, allowing every camper to build self-confidence, develop socialization skills, and be energized and enlightened through our age-appropriate programming, regardless of faith or race. The JCC now brings its camp experience to the children and families in east Fort Lauderdale at the Baer Family School, next to Temple Bat Yam.
Singer Early Childhood Learning Center
-The award-winning Singer Early Childhood Learning Center has amenities that are unsurpassed by other preschools. Our educational and recreational facilities include: 14 classrooms equipped with developmentally appropriate materials, state-of-the-art, age-appropriate indoor and outdoor playgrounds, a splash pad, a swimming pool, tennis courts, a media center, the JSmart Technology Center, the Flo & Hy Siegel Pan-to-Plate Culinary Institute, two gymnasiums for creative play and a professional-style theater/auditorium. Licensed, certified professional faculty use the JCCA Sheva framework of Jewish values as a guiding principle for curriculum development. Our security systems and procedures put parents’ minds at ease.
Children and Family
-From Judaica events to movie nights, our Family Engagement Committee plans great activities for the entire family to enjoy. Stop on by, learn and enjoy!
-Maccabi Tzair Fort Lauderdale is a branch of Maccabi World Union, a Jewish youth movement whose directive is to pass on Jewish culture and traditions to everyone in the Tnua (our youth movement), helping them find and strengthen their Jewish identity and connection to Israel - and ultimately giving them a sense of belonging to the Maccabi Tzair family. Our madrichim (leaders) have been trained to guide the young chanichim (kids) and bring a special meaning to the meetings, programs and events. We have groups for every age level with age-appropriate activities within each group.
-Our After-School Adventure Program offers your child a variety of choices for creative, fun and stimulating activities in a safe and nurturing environment. Winner of the Kids Crown Award 2018 & 2019 for Best After-School Program in Broward County from readers of South Florida Parenting. Winner of 2020 Broward Family Favorite After-School Program by the readers of South Florida Family Life.

Mort Meyer Capital Maintenance and Replacement
- This fund supports overall capital improvements throughout the David Posnack JCC
Clayton Feig Preschool Capital Fund
-Playgrounds should be tailor-made for the way kids naturally play. This extraordinary playground will allow children with and without special needs to develop essential skills as they play in their favorite spot at the David Posnack JCC. The new play space will include:
• Climbing experiences for lower-body strength
• Elements that encourage upper-body development
• Fun slides and a wee saw
• Sensory-rich activities that let a child’s imagination soar
• Cozy spots where children may socialize
• A music station
• Universally accessible pathways and rubber surfacing
• Benches where families may gather and enjoy the playground
Preschool Renovation Capital Campaign
-This campaign helps support renovations within the preschool, including upgrades to classrooms, desks and chairs, educational supplies and other ways that enhance the experience of our preschoolers.
Max Nudel Holocaust Education Fund
- This fund supports educational programs that will take place in the Mania Nudel Holocaust Learning Center
