Host Families

BECOME A HOST FAMILY TODAY

A unique and integral part of the JCC Maccabi experience is being a Host Family, offering teens traveling from across the world a Jewish “home away from home." As a host family, connect with friends and neighbors and build a special bond with the visiting teens that will extend even after the week of the games.

Host Families will receive official Host Family t-shirts and host family credentials allowing them to spectate during the days’ competitions.

A TOP 10 GUIDE TO BEING A MACCABI HOST FAMILY

  1. Has a Jewish home meaning there must be one Jewish adult/parent living in the household
  2. Hosts visiting Maccabi athletes from Sunday, August 6th - Friday, August 11th
    • Sleeping nights required: 5 (Sunday - Thursday)
  3. Has adequate beds for at least two (2) Maccabi athletes
    • “Adequate Beds” are defined as each guest having his/her own bed – air mattresses and fold-out sofa beds are sufficient; however couches/sofas are not
  4. Attends at least one of multiple scheduled Host Family Orientations during the May - July 2023 time period to review specific expectations for hosting JCC Maccabi athletes
  5. Picks up their Maccabi athlete guests on arrival day and drops off at a pre-determined designated time and location at the DPJCC on departure day
  6. Drops off each morning at the hub or at applicable venues and picks up in the evening following the conclusion of daily competition or evening event
    • Host family drivers must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license per mandatory national guidelines and vehicles must have a functioning seat belt for each of their Maccabi athletes
  7. Serves breakfast each morning for their visiting athletes
  8. Does laundry for their visiting athletes to wash uniforms each night
  9. Plans their own evening social activity for Host Family Nights. Examples include community BBQs, pool parties, attending sporting events, visiting the beach, etc.
  10. Makes unforgettable memories and connections with their visiting Maccabi athletes that will last long after the week of the Games
