Camp Kadima Presents: J Summer Days!

June 15 through August 7

Camp Kadima Email 5/19
Camp Kadima Presents: J Summer Days

To our Camp Kadima families,

With summer rapidly approaching, we know that parents and children have been looking forward to finalizing plans for an excellent summer camp experience at the DPJCC. Unfortunately, due to the current COVID-19 crisis, we will not be able to provide the full experience our campers expect. We have been devising other ways to offer safe and socially responsible childcare services during the summer and are excited to offer a new program, Camp Kadima Presents: J Summer Days!

J Summer Days will take into account all recommendations from government and health organizations in order to provide the safest experience possible for your children. This will include:

  • Daily temperature checks for staff and participants.
  • Increased handwashing policies/practices.
  • More frequent disinfecting of surfaces and items your children come in contact with.
  • Two dedicated infirmaries to separate the sick from the injured.
  • All J Summer Days staff will be wearing face coverings where feasible.
  • J Summer Days participants are recommended to wear face coverings, although it is optional. Children under 2 are excluded.

Group sizes will be limited with at least 2 counselors. Groups will remain together for the duration of the summer experience.

Preschool care for those 18 mos-4 yrs will be open 7 a.m.-6 p.m. For details about the preschool summer experience, click here and then click "Preschool Email Update 5/8."

We anticipate that more guidelines will be put in place for Broward County and our team is prepared to keep safety protocols up to date.

J Summer Days will begin on June 15 and continue through August 7. Hours of operation are
9 a.m. - 4 p.m. A.M. and P.M. care will both be offered for an additional $35 per week each. A.M care will start at 8 a.m. and P.M. care will be from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Spots for J Summer Days will be limited.

The rate for J Summer Days is $340 per week for members (and $390 for community) for a minimum of 6, 7 or 8 consecutive weeks plus a one-time $150 registration fee per camper.

J Summer Days will not include any field trips or bus transportation. Premier camps, except JTheater will not be offered in J Summer Days. JTheater will only be offered as a consecutive 6 or 8-week program. Our Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program, for those in 9th grade, will be offered, as well. This program is the first level in the transition from camper to counselor.

All J Summer Days participants can expect:

  • Sealed, individual hot or cold lunches (eaten in the room)
  • 5 J Summer Days t-shirts
  • Drawstring backpack
  • Sports Skills
  • Swimming
  • Yoga
  • Hip Hop
  • Karate
  • Art
  • Maccabi Tzair
  • Even more fun group activities!

If you would like to register your child for our J Summer Days program, click here.

The J Summer Days team will host a parent town hall Zoom call on May 26 to review these specifics. There will be three sessions: 8:30 a.m., 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. Register for the call here.

Here are the important details about J Summer Days registrations and cancellations:

  1. If you previously registered for 4 or 5 weeks for Camp Kadima, you will need to either add weeks for J Summer Days or you will need to request a refund by emailing
    ealexander@dpjcc.org or llundy@dpjcc.org.
  2. Each camp family choosing to send their child(ren) to J Summer Days will be issued a refund for any price differences. However, you may choose to receive your refund as a credit for future JCC programs or you can choose to donate it to the JCC as a tax-deductible donation.
  3. Those who have registered for camp do not need to re-register for J Summer Days. Current camp registrations will carry over. The next payment is May 26.
  4. If you do not wish for your child to attend J Summer Days, you must cancel your registration by June 1 for a refund by emailing ealexander@dpjcc.org

Camp Kadima Email Update 3/19

Dear Camp Parents,

I am emailing you today to ensure that you are up-to-date on what's happening with camp as the summer gets closer. Below you will find important information. Please read all the way through and, as always, feel free to reach out with any questions.

We will not be processing the April 1 camp payment. We are postponing that payment for a future date and will be in touch with you before we do anything.

All future camp payments will be evaluated at a later date. We are hopeful that this summer will be better than ever and we look forward to welcoming your child/ren with big smiles and open arms!

At this time, we are evaluating this day by day, but will be in touch with updates as we have them.

Check our website for details on all other programs.

We are a resilient community and we know we will get through this—together. In the meantime, please do everything you can to stay healthy and ensure the health of those around you.

Be well,
Scott Ehrlich
Chief Executive Officer, David Posnack JCC
