The Forgotten Exodus - Yom HaPlitim

Date: November 17, 2024Time: 4:00 pm

Join us for a day of community commemoration through lectures, video screenings and artwork.

Jewish Refugee Day, or 'Yom Plitim' in Hebrew, is observed on November 30th. It commemorates the expulsion of more than 850,000 Jews from the Arab world during the nascent years of the State of Israel. This day commemorates the expulsion of entire Jewish communities from the countries in which they had lived for millennia. Many of them were absorbed in Israel and have contributed greatly to the creation of the Jewish homeland. Others were integrated into the Jewish Diaspora. While this day is recognized annually in Israel, less is known about the hardships of these Jewish refugees worldwide. Their stories of struggle and resilience are inspiring.
