This hands-on class focuses on basic skills to help students become more independent in taking care of themselves and their home. Activities  include household chores, choosing and caring for clothing, using money, shopping, community awareness and basic job skills.

Superhero Obstacle Challenge

Superheroes can train with Ysaac, a certified personal trainer.  We offer a variety of ways that a superhero may get in shape and stay fit.  You learn the basics of fitness, balance and coordination through obstacle courses.  Each class starts with a warm-up, followed by a different obstacle course each week.

Healthy, Fit and Fun

This innovative program teaches the benefits of staying fit and eating healthy.  The group fitness class creates a personalized environment to pursue his/her own fitness goals.

Hip Hop Dance Party 

This course is designed to teach theater to those with physical and developmental disabilities.  Volunteers work with the special needs students on and off stage. The classes enhance verbal skills, improve movement, build self-confidence and advance socialization while stimulating free thinking.  The actors help pick a theme and write a script for the class’s end of school year performance.

Cost: Members - $200 • Community - $230

Boxing

This non-impact class covers basic skills a such as stance, guard, movement, jab, cross, hook. It includes cardio calisthenics and core strengthening exercises. Participants increase strength and improve balance and gain self-confidence.

Student Finance League

Students learn vocabulary that will help safeguard their money.  Through various activities, participants build awareness of possible frauds and practice safe ways to handle potential threats.  Students will gain an understanding of budgeting, earning, managing and protecting their money.

Ying Yang Yoga

Learn how to relax the body and mind through breathing, movement and stretches.  The traditional poses help improve balance, flexibility, strength and focus.

ITP Tennis Academy at the J teaches fundamentals of tennis.  With fun exercises the individual develops coordination through fun and easy games. Equipment is provided.

This class focuses on basic life skills for planning and preparing simple meals for daily living. Students have fun learning to use kitchen appliances and tools while making meals that can be replicated in their home setting.

Circuit Fitness Training

Under the supervision of a certified personal trainer students work on improving cardiovascular fitness and increasing muscle strength through the use of body-weight exercises, weight machines and cardio equipment. [Maximum 6 participants]

This yoga class is a wonderful space for the whole family to spend quality bonding time.  It gives everyone a chance to relax, disconnect and refocus through a series of breathing , movement and stretches.

Artsy-Craftsy

Students work on creative projects using paints, chalk, pastels, glue and a variety of materials. Skills enhanced include coordination and motor skills, encouraging self-expression, choice-making, and following directions. Completed works are displayed in an art show near the end of the session.

The Magic of Music

Students explore their creative side through the magic of music.  Music can be an entry point to facilitate the ability to share thoughts, needs and opinions with others.  This magical feeling created by music assists with decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, effective communication skills and interpersonal relationships. This course uncovers the best in persons with diverse abilities and open the door to self-confidence and self-esteem.

Delicious Fun in the Kitchen

This creative cooking class teaches the basic life skill of cooking including working with kitchen tools, preparing ingredients and measurements. Students have fun following recipes and sharing their creations with family.

This fun and creative class explores the magic of movies and music videos. Students are the “star of the show” as they participate in the creation and production of a short video. Making movies with new friends encourages socialization and speech. Students create and review their scripts, which aids in comprehension and fluidity.
