Drama with Exceptional Theater Company

This course is designed to teach theater to those with physical and developmental disabilities.  Volunteers work with the special needs students on and off stage. The classes enhance verbal skills, improve movement, build self-confidence and advance socialization while stimulating free thinking.  The actors help pick a theme and write a script for the class’s end of school year performance.

Age: Youth (ages 6-17)
Cost: $120 plus $25 materials fee/year

Lead Instructors: Debra Lombard, Evelyn Richard & Debra Rivera

For a class to be held, a minimum number of students must be enrolled for that class.
The Spring 2017 session is 12 weeks. No classes will be held April 9-14 (Passover and public school spring break) and May 14 (Mother's Day). Exceptional Theater Company will not have class on February 19.

A Taste of Sports

This class will teach the skills for multiple sports including basketball, soccer and kickball.  Players will build stamina,agility and coordination while learning the new skills.

Age: Youth (ages 6-17)
Cost: DPJCC Members - $150 • Community - $175

Instructor: Sean Miller

The Spring 2017 session is 12 weeks. No classes will be held April 9-14 (Passover and public school spring break) and May 14 (Mother's Day).

Weights in Motion

This unique combination of weight training and constant motion will help fine tune the entire body.  This class will help improve strength, muscle tone, enhance balance and self-esteem.

Ages: Youth (ages 13-17) & Adults (ages 18 & up)
Cost: DPJCC Members - $150 • Community - $175

Instructor: Shira Zevi

Hip Hop

Learn the latest hip hop moves seen in music videos and TV in an easy to learn method.  Dancers will improve agility, balance and coordination while listening to their favorite music.

Age: Youth (ages 6-17)

Soccer

This is a comprehensive class that will work on skills in passing the ball, taking shots on the goal and improving ball skills, agility and endurance. Players will practice new skills in small-sided games each day.

Ages: Youth (ages 6-17) & Adults (ages 18 & up)

Come enjoy favorite moves from the Twist to the Macarena…the Hokey Pokey to Hula Hooping…the Chicken Dance to the YMCA and so much more! Gain body awareness and control while moving to the music.

In the J’s fitness center, students will use weight and cardio machines to build strength, stamina and self-esteem.

Learn how to relax the body and mind through breathing, movement and stretches.  The traditional poses will help improve balance, flexibility, strength and focus.

"Special"ty Arts with Circle of Friends & Stars

Students can let their creativity flow while learning the proper use of oils and chalk. This class will help improve vocabulary and self-expression, enhance listening skills and the ability to follow directions and build self-confidence.

Zumba®

This is the ultimate dance-fitness party where students will “play it loud” with age-appropriate music, rock with friends and begin their journey to a healthy  future.   This class will help with self-esteem, coordination and socialization.

Ages: Youth (ages 6-17) & Adults (ages 18 & up)

Basketball

This is a comprehensive class that will enhance skills, teamwork and sportsmanship for all ages. Students learn skills in shooting, passing, and dribbling and techniques in offense and defense.

Ages: Adults (ages 18 & up)

Delicious Fun in the Kitchen with the Real Cake Goddess

This creative cooking class will teach the basic life skill of cooking including working with kitchen tools, preparing ingredients and measurements.  Students will have fun following recipes and sharing their creations with family. 

Ages: Youth (ages 6-17) & Adults (ages 18 & up)
